Basic fundamentals of a healthy life
I believe there are simple things that form the basis for better health and, in turn, a better life. Each principle can be explored further in the blog.
- 1Be happy with yourself and where you are in life.
- 2Build and nurture a good relationship with someone in your life.
- 3Choose work that feels fulfilling.
- 4Remember that genetics are one part of health, but not the only part.
- 5Eat the right things, at the right time, in the right way.
- 6Learn how fasting can support a healthy lifestyle.
- 7Be mindful of how much of the things that do not serve you well you consume.
- 8Make restorative sleep a priority.
- 9Use meditation when it supports a happier life and good health.
- 10Set meaningful goals and learn how to build toward them.
- 11Include appropriate exercise in your routine.
Understanding yourself
Your body type
Each of us has a particular body type with characteristics that are helpful to understand. Ayurveda is an ancient whole-person system that uses the three doshas—Vata, Kapha, and Pitta—to describe patterns of balance in the body and mind.
The three doshas are present in everyone from conception. Their individual mix helps shape our natural constitution, much like primary colors combine to create different shades. When they are in balance, they support the body’s normal function; when they are out of balance, they can contribute to discomfort and disease.
